Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

GPR is one of the newest and most powerful tools for locating underground utilities.

GPR Technology allows to non-destructively map subsurface objects; find metallic and nonmetallic objects; define variations in soil & rocks; and define subsurface disturbances up to 30 feet (under very good conditions).

What Can Be Found with a GPR?

Almost anything! Any object that has different electrical properties than of the dirt around it, can be detected. It does not matter if it is conductive or not. That is why it is such a powerful tool for underground locating.

Drawbacks:

Small diameter underground utilities deep buried may not be detected.

It is adversely affected by soil conditions such as: soil humidity, soil composition, and water table among others.

GPR Applications:
Construction and Damage Prevention
  • Locate metallic and nonmetallic underground facilities with no a-priori information (Blind search).
  • Define areas of previous trenching.
  • Plan Directional Boring with confidence
  • Find Subsurface obstacles such as rocks
  • Define utilities' depth
Environmental Site Assessment
  • Locate metallic and nonmetallic underground storage.
  • Locate water table.
