Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
GPR is one
of the newest and most powerful tools for locating underground
utilities.

GPR
Technology allows to non-destructively map subsurface objects; find
metallic and nonmetallic objects; define variations in soil & rocks;
and define subsurface disturbances up to 30 feet (under very good
conditions).
What Can Be Found with a GPR?
Almost anything! Any object that has different electrical properties
than of the dirt around it, can be detected. It does not matter if it
is conductive or not. That is why it is such a powerful tool for
underground locating.
Drawbacks:
Small diameter underground utilities deep buried may not be detected.
It is adversely affected by soil conditions such as: soil humidity,
soil composition, and water table among others.
